The Rev. Sara McCurdy       Covenant Shepherd

The Rev. Sara McCurdy is an Honorably Retired PC (U.S.A.) Teaching Elder.  As a second career pastor, Sara is grateful to have had the opportunity to develop her gifts in a variety of church settings over a relatively short time (14years) as both an Interim and Installed Pastor. Through continuing education, her work in the local church and on Committee on Ministry, Pastor Sara is excited about continuing non-installed ministry in PC (U.S.A.)  Sara is a native Californian and received an M.Div at San Francisco Theological Seminary. Prior to her Ordination Sara worked for many years as a Mental Health Counselor and Psychologist both in the public and private sector.  Sara has served five Presbyterian congregations since her ordination:  First Presbyterian Church of Fullerton, CA, Westminster Presbyterian Church in Westlake Village, CA and First Presbyterian Church of Sherman Oaks, CA.  She became the Pastor of Morningside Presbyterian Church in February, 2008 and retired from full-time installed ministry in June of 2016.  Soon after she was called to serve as Supply Pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Redlands.  Sara describes herself as an outgoing person who takes delight in people of all ages.  While she is basically serious and contemplative, Sara has a strong sense of fun and truly loves the fellowship of the local church.  She is passionate about all aspects of ordained ministry and especially loves teaching and preaching God's Word.  Sara' focus in ministry is on going equipping the leadership of the church and on helping individuals and families understand themselves as moving along a path of spiritual formation. Consequently, her ministry is shaped by the need to provide a seeker-friendly atmosphere in which people can enter a spiritual community.  Sara's husband, Jim, is a retired United Airlines pilot. They recently relocated from Orange County to Sun City Shadow Hills in Indio.
